Abstract

A fast and widely tunable single-mode laser source is a useful component in wavelength division multiplexing. In this article, a novel semiconductor ring laser that has the potential to tune the laser wavelength over more than 1000 channels with nanosecond tuning time is presented. The laser can be applied at either 1.3 μm or 1.5 μm.
