Abstract

Deterministic critical perturbations, capable of switching the surface from a spatially uniform, stable steady state X1 to a different X2, were examined. It was confirmed that such a study serve to test and validate theoretical predictions for optimal switching paths and rare event rates obtained through large deviation techniques and dynamic programming.
