Abstract

Finite-alphabet signals corrupted by discrete noisy channels arise naturally in a wide range of applications spanning many fields of science and engineering. This paper outlines a discrete universal denoiser (DUDE) that attains optimum (distribution-dependent) performance with computational complexity that grows linearly with the data size.
