Abstract

The search of Dark Matter of the Universe with Underground Laboratories is one the major research avenues in Astroparticle Physics nowadays. The Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) hosts a number of experiments that are at the forefront of this research, featuring world leading sensitivities across a wide spectrum of possible mass ranges. The experimental techniques developed for this research at LNGS span from ultra-cold scintillating bolometers, to noble liquid time projection chambers, to room temperature scintillating crystals. The key enabling technologies span from the suppression of the environmental and material radioactivity by careful material selection and screening, to the development of low signal sensors and the related low noise electronics, to the cryogenics for cold and ultra-cold temperatures, down to few parts per one thousand of a Kelvin.
