Abstract

A mathematical model of the turbulent cascade process in an arc driven plasma channel has been developed. It was used to model the influence of different pulsation scales formed by the high-current discharge on the flow structure. An effect of compressibility and the irregular energy input has been analyzed. It was shown that compressibility effects are manifested at high harmonics and we can expect a deviation from the Kolmogorov’s similarity law caused by the irregular energy input. Additionally a flow velocity disturbances by the laser pulse heating was studied numerically based on a RANS approach and RNG k-ε model of turbulence.
