Y1 - 2005
N2 - The trends and challenges faced by the Systems-on-Chip (SoC) technology for multimedia system design are described. SoC is goverened by the trends that (1) more and more complex design demanded by latest applications and (2) greater and greater integration prophesied by the Moore's Law. Some of the issues of vital importance to SoC design of multimedia system include Killer applications, media processors, network on chip (NoC), memory architecture, and power consumption. The challenges imposed by deeper sub-micron technologies require foundries to work closely with customers, equipment vendors, EDA tool vendors, and IP vendors.
