Abstract
Unlike buildings, trees do not need architects or builders to rise. Not only do they reproduce and grow without polluting, but their shape resists any design. Perhaps that is why, whenever architecture includes them, it organizes them in grids or rows to make the design evident. Taking advantage of the politically correct character of the plant material, a part of architecture instrumentalizes the trees, giving them agency as symbols but denying it to them as living entities.
