Abstract
The compounds MMo6S8 (M = Ba, Ca, Sr, Eu) undergo a structural transition from the rhombohedral phase to the low-temperature triclinic phase. Evidence is presented for the presence of charge-density waves in BaMo6S8, based on measurements of the Hall effect, magnetic susceptibility and a preliminary study of the nonlinear response of the resistance to an electric field.
