Abstract

An implicit multigrid-driven algorithm for two-dimensional incompressible laminar viscous flows coupled with a solution mesh adaptation method is extended to allow the calculation of time dependent problems with boundary movement. The mesh movement method is constructed by modeling the computational domain as an elastic solid and solving the equilibrium equations for the stress field. Preliminary validation of the mesh movement method is performed by comparison with experimental results of an oscillating airfoil and computational results of an oscillating cylinder.
