Abstract

The ac magnetic helicity injection was proposed as a technique to sustain the plasma current in a reversed field pinch (RFP). The technique was able to sustain the plasma current with the edge current mainly driven by the oscillating field current drive (OFCD)-generated fields and the core current driven by plasma fluctuations. The full nonlinear dynamics of OFCD was examined by employing the three-dimensional, resistive magnetohydrodynamics computation.
