The internal kink mode in an anisotropic flowing plasma with application to modeling neutral beam injected sawtoothing discharges

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The toroidal internal kink instability was generalized to account for weakly anisotropic and flowing equilibria. The approach was proposed, which on employing an appropriate model distribution function, accounts for the hot ion response of neutral beam injection (NBI) to the internal kink mode. The anisotropic fluid effects were destabilized and reduce the stabilzing role of fast ions.
