Abstract
By employing a technique analogous to ac demagnetisation of a ferromagnet we have constructed a state of the pinned CDW which is shown to be stable for 8 hours. Slight temperature changes ΔT at a rate below 1 mK/s destroy this equilibrium. We hypothesize that the condensate is left highly stressed by ΔT. The relief of this stress occurs by a series of quasi-periodic resistance jumps (condensate quakes).
