Abstract
This chapter examines the Harlem Renaissance through the lens of diaspora. It focuses on New York as a diasporic center for Black communities from across the Atlantic, as well as the United States, and considers the different ways Black artists and intellectuals associated with the cultural “flowering” of the Harlem Renaissance were inspired by and sustained these diasporic networks to cultivate both a shared history and construct new futures.
