Temperature-dependent gain and loss in high performance quantum cascade lasers at 8.2 and 10.3μm

Abstract

Temperature-dependent optical gain and waveguide loss were measured for Quantum Cascade lasers with wavelengths of ~8.2 and ~10.3μm. The nature of the temperature dependence of the loss indicates an extra mechanism of resonant intersubband absorption.
