Abstract
Sum capacity of the multiple antenna Gaussian broadcast channel was characterized. The capacity region of the broadcast channel depended only on the marginal variances of additive noise. Results indicated that the upper bound to the sum capacity was achieved by a specific choice of transmission strategy. This produced the largest known achievable region for a general broadcast channel.
