Abstract

Stabilizing impact of high gradient of β on microturbulence was analyzed. It was found that in high β spherical tokamak plasmas, high |β′| rather than low aspect ratio is a source of stabilization. The results showed that the effect of high |β′| should be stabilizing in the plasmas of the National Spherical Torus Experiment.
