Abstract

In this paper the mechanism by which spin fluctuations can stabilize an anisotropic superfluid state is briefly reviewed. Certain particle-particle diagrams omitted in the original calculation are then estimated and shown to give a small contribution to the susceptibility. The energies of spin fluctuations in **3He are discussed and it is shown that the variation in specific heat discontinuity with pressure is in agreement with the spin fluctuation prediction although the magnitude of the spin fluctuation predictions are somewhat larger than observed values.
