Abstract

An all-optical ultrafast sampling system using an all-optical switch and a passive pulse replicator for single-shot optical wave-form characterization is presented. Using the terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer as the analog sampling device in the system, this technique can measure relatively low energy signals, has a wide dynamic range, and requires a short nonlinear interaction length. The system has been successfully demonstrated, performing real-time measurements of 100 GHz, low-energy optical waveforms.
