Abstract

Semiconductor nanocrystals have been extensively investigated during the last decade for their applicability in a variety of areas of technological importance. To date, the control of size distribution and shape presents an important challenge in the area of nanocrystal fabrication. Herein we demonstrate novel synthetic routes for the preparation of semiconductor nanoparticles with various morphologies. We have prepared brick-shaped CdSe nanorods, PbS dots, and, EuS cubes which have potential application in solar cells, photonic- and optical-switching devices, and magneto-optical devices.
