TWENTY years have passed since Bondi and Gold¹ introduced the steady-state theory of the universe and the attendant concept of continuous creation. Thus far, the theoretical successes of steady-state cosmology have survived the tests of observation². In all of the observations, however, there has been no direct evidence for or against continuous creation.
