Abstract
The formation of polyacrylamide/chromium-ion gels has been followed rheologically. The time dependence of the storage modulus has been used to analyze the kinetics of the gelation process. The kinetic theory of rubber elasticity has been used to determine the crosslink density in the gel from the measured value of the storage modulus. The effects of changing polymer, chromium ion, and reducing agent concentrations have been studied.
