N2 - Strain measurement is an important part of structural health monitoring. Measuring the strain of different parts is of great significance to understand the safety performance and service state of the structure. This study utilized smartphone with an high popularity, cheap, and portable mobile phone microscope and corresponding devices to take small deformation images of objects, tracked local feature points in images, calculated the displacement, and got the average strain of the objects, so as to achieve a portable, low-cost strain measurement method. The results show that this method could measure the strain of the structure surface very well, and its errors are within 6 μϵ. It meets the needs of structural health monitoring; in addition, it is simple to operate and easy to be popularized in a wide range.
