Reminiscences of my association with professor I.I. Glass

Abstract

While many of Professor Glass’s graduate students were referred to him by his professional friends, my association with him was completely unplanned. In the fall of 1967 I was a physics undergraduate at the University of Alberta, looking for graduate school. I was a hard-core physics student, taking all sorts of challenging physics and math courses, enjoying them and dreaming the Nobel Prize. At that time the Apollo program was in its full blown excitement, triggering the imagination. A brief checking around yielded the obvious conclusion that the UTIAS was the top aero school in Canada and so I applied.
