Abstract
The relaxation properties of the pinned charge density wave in NbSe3, TaS3 and K0.3MoO3 are reviewedwith emphasis on the relation between the polarisation status of the condensate and the observed thermal hysteresis in the resistance. The distinction between reversible and irreversible polarisation is described, and a classification scheme is proposed for the many time scales observedin various relaxation phenomena.
