Abstract

Previous investigators have demonstrated the dramatic and fast response of a turbulent boundary layer to a region of streamwise curvature; however, little is known about how a boundary layer distorted by curvature relaxes on a flat plate. This paper reports the results of a study of the mean flow recovery behavior of a zero pressure gradient boundary layer subjected to 90 degree of strong ( delta //o/R approximately 0. 1) convex curvature. Two cases were investigated, differing in the streamwise pressure distribution within the bend.
