Abstract

The trade-off between rate and distortion for channels with state information was investigated. A channel where both the pure information and a description of the channel state could be sent to the receiver was considered. State information transmission used the resources that could otherwise be used in transmitting pure information. A trade-off region between pure information rate and state estimation error was proposed for a channel with an arbitary state distortion measure.
