Abstract
The theory of coordinate transformations and their pullback transformations in gyrokinetic theory was discussed. The concept of nonfibered phase space coordinates was introduced. The pullback transformations provided a rigorous connection between the distribution functions in gyrocenter coordinates and Maxwell's equations in laboratory phase space coordinates. The Bernstein wave was recovered and the application of the pullback transformations to high frequency modes was studied.
