Abstract
The article discusses some background on the Montreal Protocol and the new controls under the strengthened protocol. Domestic policy initiatives affecting halon consumption are discussed. The proposed national recycling plan is presented. Methods of reducing halon emissions are suggested. A systems approach to fire protection is described. The article also addresses how corporations are reducing their dependence on halon, and what the government is doing to reduce dependence on halon.
