Abstract

A report on the Heavy Ion Fusion (HIF) driven Inertial fusion energy (IFE) program that is transitioning from scaled experiments to experiments with beams that are driver scale in line charge density and pulse duration is presented. Maintenance of high brightness beams, and production and focusing of high neutralized beam in a chamber were main issues for the drivers. The experimental emphasis of the program was on High current experiments (HCX), advanced injector concepts.
