Abstract

This paper considers the analysis of successive interference cancellation (SIC) based multirate DS-CDMA systems. Power allocation in the context of various detection and decoding schemes, including SIC-MMSE and group SIC (GSIC), is discussed. Optimal decoding order for these schemes is analyzed. Spectral efficiency in both non-fading and frequency flat fading channels is discussed by obtaining explicit expressions for minimum energy per bit and spectral slope, and the results are compared with a multi-code scheme.
