Plasma-mirror-cleaned high-contrast few-cycle relativistic-intensity light pulses

Abstract

A plasma mirror is shown to enhance the intensity contrast of 8fs multiterawatt light pulses by 2.5 orders of magnitude, while keeping the pulse duration unchanged. High reflectivity and improved near-field beam quality are demonstrated.
