abstract = "Photoluminescence (PL) and PL excitation (PLE) spectra have been measured on a high-quality n-type-modulation-doped single GaAs quantum wire with a gate, where density of one-dimensional (1D) electron gas is tuned by gate voltage. We demonstrate that the absorption line shape of trions varies from symmetric to asymmetric with electron density. The high energy tail of the trion peak is analogous to a power-law anomaly in Fermi-edge singularity of 1D electron gas. The peak of trions shows no shift with electron density, while a peak of exciton shows blue-shifts. For higher electron density, the peak of trions changes to a shoulder corresponding to an absorption onset of an electron-plasma system. We found large energy gap between a high-energy cut-off in PL and a PLE onset in the wire.",
