Abstract
Cardiovascular dysfunction is a cardinal manifestation of critical illness in children. Pediatric intensivists must have a solid understanding of the basic science and practice aspects of drugs used to treat these disorders. Therefore, a thorough understanding of cardiovascular pharmacology—including the indications, clinical effects, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, adverse reactions, and drug interactions—is essential to ensure optimal outcomes with minimal risk.
