Abstract

Laser-induced fluorescence technique is a non-intrusive optical measurement diagnostics, which allows to study an ion and atom velocity distribution function (VDF). This diagnostic was applied for a parametric study of neutral and single-charged Xenon VDFs in a small ambipolar plasma source, namely the 2.6 cm miniaturized cylindrical Hall thruster (CHT), with 200 W power level. Effects of different operational parameters, such as background pressure, anode and cathode flows, discharge current, were studied during experiments.
