Parametric excitations of fast plasma waves by counterpropagating laser beams

Abstract

Short- and long-wavelength plasma wave coupling were observed under two counterpropagating laser pump pulses. The laser pulses were detuned via the cold-plasma frequency. It was also observed that the growth rate of the plasma waves was faster in more obvious copropagating geometry.
