Abstract

This chapter details the history, chemistry, characterization, and application of water-dispersible conducting polymers. These materials can be produced through versatile synthetic routes and possess unique doping chemistries. The nature of their conductivity has been investigated through characterization of optical, electrochemical, and structural properties. Applications in thin-film transistors, light-emitting diodes, solar cells, and electrochromic devices are described.
