Abstract
A simple model for studying the influence of fluctuations in explosive chemical reactions is discussed. The model uses stochastic processes of bounded magnitude to describe the fluctuations. The exact solution of the model allows for a quantitative discussion of the effects of the fluctuations on physical quantities such as the critical value of the initial concentration that characterizes the explosive regime and the explosion time. Both quantities are found to be smaller when fluctuations are taken into account than when they are neglected.
