Abstract
A general formula is derived for the deviatoric normal stress on a slip surface for an incompressible flows. A simple relationship is obtained for the deviatoric normal stress on an interface in terms of the instantaneous tangential and normal velocity components and the shape. It is found that the deviatoric normal stress is related to the slip velocity as well as the normal component of the surface velocity.
