Abstract
The first experimetal observation of 2D optial discrete solitons in nonlinear photonic lattices was reported. As such, optical induction technique was used to create 2D nonliear photonic lattices in a photorefractive crystal. In these lattices, the diffraction and the two families of discrete self-trapped wavepackets were studied: the in-phase and the staggered 2D lattice solitons.
