Abstract

The energies of critical points in dispersions of collective gap excitations of the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states at v = 1/3 and 2/5 were measured. Evidence of two magnetoroton minima in the dispersion of gap modes at v = 2/5 and of a single minimum at v = 1/4 was obtained. Key predictions of Chern-Simons and composite fermion theories were confirmed.
