Abstract

We examine the impact of parallel computing on the field of nonlinear network programming. A general framework for the vectorization of optimization software is presented and applied in the context of two codes. Experiences with a relaxation algorithm in a simulated distributed processing environment are also discussed. Computational experiments on a CRAY-XMP are reported, together with comparisons of the network codes with the general purpose nonlinear optimizer MINOS.
