Unlike the true mass, meff depends on the field parameters and can be a nonanalytic function of the particle average velocity and the oscillation energy; hence non-Newtonian {"}metaplasmas{"} that permit a new type of plasma maser, signal rectification, frequency doubling, and one-way walls.",
