note = "Funding Information: twentieth time in December 2019. The awards are now permanently funded by an endowment from the Acriel Foundation, which has supported them since their inception. The Grants for 2019, each for $3,000, will support the projects of Padma Rangarajan and Kacie Wills. Rangarajan, currently an Assistant Professor at the University of California at Riverside, is working on a monograph, Thug Life: The British Empire and the Birth of Terrorism. Her study posits that discourse concerning illegitimate political violence must acknowledge the nation state{\textquoteright}s historical correlative, modern imperialism. Wills received her degree from UC-Riverside last September and is currently a contingent faculty member at Lane Community College. The grant will fund her research at the British Library and the British Museum for her project, Exploring the Collections of Sarah Sophia Banks. She will mine the archives for her later use of digital tools to provide wider access to the scrapbook on hot-air balloons assembled by Banks, sister of Sir Joseph Banks.",
