Abstract
A new search for a permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of the 199Hg atom was carried out. In particular, EDM was detected by measuring the Zeeman precession frequency of 199Hg nuclear spins (I = 1/2) in parallel electric and magnetic fields. As a result, new limits on ̄θQCD, quark chromo-EDMs, and CP violation in various extensions of the standard model were set.
