Abstract

The phenomenological constraints from neutral-current experiments, the W and Z masses, and direct searches at the SppS collider on the masses and mixing of theoretically motivated extra Z bosons are considered. Particular consideration is given to the additional bosons expected in grand unified theories based on SO10 and E6 (including superstring models) and in models with a low energy left-right symmetry. It is found that the existing constrainsts are very weak, with masses as low as 100-300 GeV allowed for the various cases considered.
