Abstract

This paper describes an approach to neural network-based lateral control of an autonomous road vehicle. It discusses elements of a driving simulator, a neural network controller and some operational results. Tests demonstrate that the control system is capable of robust performance over an envelope for which training had been performed at only a sparse distribution of points.
