Abstract

A design using a backscattering geometry is presented, which emphasizes high sensitivity and high spatial resolution at the outer edge of the National Spherical Torus Experiment, while providing full profile capability with a moderate number of channels. The design is based on Nd: YAG lasers and avalanche photodiode detectors to allow for high repetition rate measurements.
