Abstract

An optimal control model of the human pilot is incorporated in pilot-aircraft stability and performance analysis. The pilot model is found to be of value in investigating the effects of optimal and sub-optimal pilot adaptation as the aircraft transitions from low to high angle-of-attack during rapid maneuvering. An example comparing pilot model minimum-control-effort adaptation and experimental results is given.
