Abstract
Drummond and Niv explore the theoretical and computational basis for two decision-making systems: model-based and model-free. They explain ways in which the two systems work in tandem and how the brain arbitrates between the two according to uncertainty. They demonstrate that each system has an equally valuable approach to guiding action selection under varying contexts.
