Abstract
The Doppler-shift frequency calibration technique was employed for the measurement of scalar Stark shift of mercury's 254-nm intercombination line. The inner surface of the disks was chemically coated with a tin conductive film for the application of a well-defined electric field. The magnetic field was kept perpendicular to the electric field and the laser was linearly polarized parallel to the magnetic field for the measurements.
